Call for Pictures
and Graphics
SaTL.org is planning on conducting several promotional campaigns this year.
As you all know, a picture is worth a million words wed love to
be able to showcase student programs, and to do so with an added effect, we
need high resolution images (digital, print, or slide) of kids doing SaTL-type
activities. If anyone has anything that fits this description, we would greatly
appreciate your sharing it with us. Please contact Marisa Hedlund at 617-783-9988x126
or mhedlund@massnetworks.org if you have anything to contribute.
MSDN Academic Alliance
Program Provides Benefits to Member Schools
One of SaTL.orgs best friends and finest supporters, Microsoft, has proved
again why we like them so much By forming the MSDN Academic Alliance, Microsoft
has provided departmental licensing for their products at a very low cost to
academic departments.
This program, designed specifically for school labs, faculty, and students,
makes it easier and less expensive to get Microsoft developer tools, platforms,
and servers for instructional and research purposes. The $799 annual fee (membership
runs from July 1- June 30) provides members with the following benefits: a license
amendment enabling departments to load multiple copies of products on lab machines;
students are allowed to download the software to their personal computers ,
and latest releases of Visual Studio, .NET Enterprise Servers, all Microsoft
operating systems, and Visio Professional. This is just a summary of the benefits
for complete details, including additional benefits and restrictions
not listed here and to register for the Alliance, please visit http://www.msdnaa.net/whoweare.asp.
A Converge
Magazine Making a Difference Workshop Series
Where: Tremont Hotel, 275 Tremont Street, Boston.
When: October 10, 2001, 9:00am 12:00pm. Luncheon and Keynote Presentation
occur 12:00-1:00.
Main presenters will be Bernard Percy, Editor in Chief of Converge Magazine
and Dick Callahan, VP Education Strategy and Development, Gateway.
In the Converge tradition, this will be a very interactive, fun, and impacting
workshop. Be prepared to be an active participant! You will leave with new or
enhanced ideas of how to use and implement technology, meet kindred spirits
and possibly find that person who has the answer to the question you have or
the solution to the problem you need to be solved. More specifically, this workshop
will explore ways to use technology to make a difference in the delivery of
curriculum, to create partnerships, and to win over individuals, both colleagues
and decision makers so they too become active supporters and participants in
the use of technology.
