VISIT: Virtual Immersion in Scientific Inquiry for Teachers

Who:

Teachers of grades 7-12 science, geography, social studies, mathematics, or technology subjects. You must have convenient internet access and an email address you use regularly.

What:

A teacher-led professional development program consisting of:

  • Participation in online discussions and self-pased courses with peers and teacher leaders
  • Scientific and social investigations of contemporary problems relevant to our own curricula and local community and environment
  • Use of software tools for visualization and spatial analysis of real-world data

When:

February 1, 2002 - May 15, 2002

Credit:

Teachers who complete requirements for the online courses are eligible to apply for three free graduate credits in science education from Eastern Michigan University or for-fee ($130) credits from Colorado School of Mines. To receive graduate credits, you must fill out the registration form for the appropriate institution after completing the coursework.

Program cost:

There is no charge to qualified teachers for participating in the program.

TechBoston Cisco Training

Who:

This event is designed for teachers from school districts planning to institute a Cisco Local Networking Academy but is also useful for other programs teaching computer networking.

What:

Level I, II, and III Cisco Networking Academy Certification . Upon successful completion of all four levels, participants will be eligible to take the CCNA exam to qualify for a Cisco Networking Academy Instructor status.

Where & When:

 

  • Level I: Two-Week Summer Training: July 9 - July 20, 8:30am - 2:30pm

  • Level II: Wednesday evenings: September 19, 2001- January 9, 2002, 4:00 - 7:15 pm

  • Level III: Wednesday evenings: January 23 - May 15, 2002, 4:00 - 7:15pm

Cost:

$1300 for non-BPS teachers if not taken for graduate credit. Please make checks payable to Boston Educational Development Foundation.
