The classroom is the
primary place for determining whether or not students are
learning. By designing and administering classroom assessments,
teachers are the first to measure student progress toward
defined learning goals. However, assessment tools do not always
match the outcomes students are expected to master. Even more
problematic is the issue of inconsistency among teachers when
they assess student work. If a district is to meet NCLB requirements
for helping all students succeed in ELA and math, rubrics
can help create a common language and define objective criteria
for student proficiency.
The Curriculum
Group supports teacher teams in establishing common assessment
criteria that are aligned to the state frameworks in addition
to helping teachers articulate what different levels of quality
should look like in student products. Whether your district
has already established rubrics in ELA and math or your district
is starting from scratch, we can provide an efficient and
cost-effective program to help you make progress towards your
Improvement Objectives. To learn more about creating effective
