A Compendium of Findings:
Project MEET Resource Book
From 2000 until 2003, Mass Networks
ran a series of roundtables and workshops for the Policy strand
of Project MEET. These events, which brought together tech
directors, teachers, TPDs, principals, curriculum directors
and superintendents from Project MEET districts, were designed
to share best practices around educational technology policies.
Many of the sessions were so successful that we were asked
to run them again and again as public forums, private workshops
and conference workshops. This repetition gave us the advantage
of observing how trends change over time as the technology,
the economy and the general environment changes.
This book represents the best of our findings
over the 3-year time span. The issues we chose to include
are the timeless ones; Network Security vs. User Flexibility,
for instance, was an issue 3 years ago and will be an issue
3 years and probably 30 years from now! The articles all contain
our research on national best practices as well as reports
of how Massachusetts districts are addressing the issue. When
appropriate, the articles are accompanied by worksheets that
readers can fill out to help them structure their own approach
to the issue. Each article also includes explanations of the
most appropriate audience for the article as well as how the
article can help the reader to address the particular issue.

other issues, please contact Erica Levy-Ringel at elevy@massnetworks.org.
