From MCAS Analysis to Instructional Improvement: TestWiz
and Beyond 10/02
The Massachusetts DoE has provided every
district with free access to TestWiz, a software tool optimized
for analysis of MCAS results, along with a couple hours of
free training. A new Mass Networks workshop, From
MCAS Analysis to Instructional Improvement, can help
you get additional staff up-to-speed with TestWiz. Going beyond
the tool, participants will also learn about the specific
Framework standards that the MCAS tends to address, as well
as its particular tricks and traps. More importantly, teachers
will learn how to use the TestWiz reports and MCAS analysis
as a guide for instructional strategies that will improve
students test-taking skills while supporting deep learning
across the curriculum. For more information, contact Megan

MNEP Creates U.Mass/Boston
IT Master Plan 09/02
MassMass
Networks' "Technology
Audit and Planning Program" was selected to provide
U.Mass/Boston's new Chancellor, Dr. Jo Ann M. Gora, with a
strategic plan for greater integration of technology into
campus life, particularly into teaching and learning. The
Chancellor sees technology as a key component of improvement
efforts. Mass Networks is conducting a six step process of
status and issue clarification, extensive stakeholder input,
research into national best practice, and discussion of draft
proposals. In addition to its work with Universities and Colleges,
the Mass Networks Audit service also works with public and
private K-12 districts to suggest ways to more tightly--and
cost-effectively--align their technology resources with their
learning priorities.
