We started as Massachusetts'
NetDay organizers in 1996, mobilizing over 19,000 volunteers
and attracting over $35 million in donations to help jump-start
school wiring. Nearly two-thirds of Massachusetts' school
districts participated in the campaign. We responded to educators'
needs by expanding our focus from networks to include strategic
planning, professional development, and curriculum.
We now work throughout New England with
all educational institutions, primarily K-12 schools. We complement
rather than compete with existing professional development
and local technology planning efforts. Without losing our
independence, we align and integrate ourselves with national
and state efforts to make education reform a success.
We are an independent, nonprofit organization
funded by federal and state grants and contracts, corporate
donations, district contracts, and event fees. Over the years
our supporters have included top business and union leaders
as well as educators and government officials. Senator Edward
M. Kennedy and Governor William F. Weld were our founding
Honorary Co-chairs.
We focus on both policy and implementation,
playing a catalytic role in mobilizing people and resources
for sustainable and scalable impact. Our programs aim to empower
people to deal with immediate problems while opening the path
to more visionary changes.
